Murat Ushanov

Murat was born in Ufa, the same city as Rudolf Nureyev, into a ballet family. His grandmother, Zuhra Ilyasova, was a prima ballerina and People's Artist of the RSFSR. His grandfather, Yulai Ushanov, was a principal dancer. His mother and father danced at the theatres of Ufa and Chelyabinsk.

Rudolf Nureyev Ballet Academy of Ufa, four years. His classical ballet teacher was his grandmother.

Entered the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg, teaching ballet since 1738. Its graduates include Nureyev, Baryshnikov, Ulanova, Vishneva, Lopatkina and Maria Khoreva.

Stage practice at the Mariinsky, Bolshoi and Mikhailovsky theatres. Tour of Japan: more than ten cities in one month.

Graduated with honours in every specialized subject: classical ballet, pas de deux, acting, modern, character and historical dance.

Mariinsky Theatre. More than 50 ballets and over 200 roles. Danced in the original cast of «The Four Seasons», still in the theatre's repertoire. Tours in Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Austria.

A serious back injury and an operation brought his career as a dancer to an end.

Pedagogy faculty of the Vaganova Ballet Academy. The Academy's management invited him to teach the classical ballet classes for boys of the second and fourth year. Graduated with honours in 2022.

Teaching in Russia: the «Dinastía» school in St. Petersburg and a staging of «The Nutcracker». His own master classes in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Ufa.

January: moves to Mexico. Master classes in eleven cities across the country — Campeche, León, Morelia, Oaxaca, Irapuato, Puebla, Manzanillo, Querétaro, Toluca, Estado de México and Mexico City.

First invitations as a competition jury member abroad: Bogotá, Colombia, and Puebla, Mexico.

Competition jury abroad: Bogotá, Colombia · Isla Margarita, Venezuela · Manzanillo, Mexico. At several of them he also gave master classes for the participating schools.

January: CENART, 3rd International Meeting of Classical Dance Schools, supported by the Ministry of Culture. Classes in classical ballet, pas de deux and character dance, the workshop «Fundamentals of the Vaganova Method» for teachers, feedback to the participating schools and choreography for more than 50 dancers.

July: the Ministry of Culture and INBAL, through the Academia de la Danza Mexicana, invited him to teach the teacher-training course «Vaganova Technique Methodology» — 20 hours for the Academy's classical ballet teachers.

First edition of the Vaganova Summer Intensive México: 58 students, 16 auditing teachers and a closing gala in a theatre.
